While addressing the crowd at Burdwan’s Joydeb Mela, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the demonetisation by Centre has brought emergency situation for farmers, small traders, tea garden and jute industry workers.
“People cannot withdraw their own money from banks. Farmers cannot buy seed, small businessmen are suffering. Pension holders are not getting the money they deserve. 30% people have lost their jobs due to demonetisation.”she said. “People are suffering. Workers under the 100 Days’ Work Scheme are not receiving wages. Banks do not have money”, the Chief Minsiter said, and on top of that, “92% rural areas do not even have banks”., she added.
She “urged everyone to come forward and protest”. “Let there be a tide of protests”, she said.
