“BJP is getting stronger in Bengal”- says Smriti Irani praising party’s Kanthi result

Union Minister of Textile Govt of India Smriti Jubin Irani along with West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh during a press meet in Kolkata 3

Union Minister of Textile Smriti in her party workers’ meet addressed media on Wednesday claimed that the people of West Bengal had immensely benefitted from the Centre-sponsored schemes in past three years of the BJP rule.

“People from backward class and financially weaker section in Bengal used to get Rs 1,000 crore as loan under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna in 2015-16. The amount substantially rose to Rs 15,000 in 2016-17. West Bengal ranked second in number of BPL families getting LPG connections in past three years. Two crore LPG connections were given to BPL population across India under Pradhan Mantri Ujala Yojna, “, said Irani.

Irani also appreciated the party’s performance at the Kanthi electons. “BJP’s influence is growing like anything in West Bengal. The recent Kanthi poll results is indicative of BJP’s growing influence and decline of Trinamool Congress’ popularity,” Irani told media persons.

She was, however, reluctant to take on Mamata Banerjee on issues ranging from Sarada—Narada investigations, BJP—Trinamool clash over minority appeasement.
“I hope justice will be done. But I can’t put pressure on investigating agencies as a cabinet minister,” she said.
